Thankfulness - Stewardship 2011
Dear People of the Ascension:
Calendar year 2009 has brought many blessing s to The Church of The Ascension for which we should express gratitude. In an adverse economic climate, our parish was blessed with a generous 10% increase in the number of pledges with a remarkable 20% increase in income for calendar year 2009. We completed a successful Friendship Fair which not only provided a record net income, but provided a priceless opportunity to blend the fellowship of our new and old members and extend our outreach with joy to the community. The Diocese of Long Island elected and welcomed a new bishop, Lawrence Provenzano, who has raised our spirits and our vision. And, we proudly await the New Year, 2010, in which we shall celebrate with joy our 125 th year as a congregation.
As each of us contemplates our stewardship pledge for the year ahead, it is wholly appropriate that we express our gratitude for the work and generosity of those who have preceded us by generously responding to the need to begin the next 125 years of parish life with optimism and generous financial support. As your wardens, we thank those of you who have pledged in the past; thank your for any increases of bounty which you might be moved to pledge; and, encourage others who have never pledged to consider a pledge for this our 125 th year.
Thank you. May God bless you and your family; and, may God bless The Church of The Ascension. Thank you.
Please return your pledge form by December 13 th so that it may be blessed at the 10:30 Eucharist.
John W. Challice, Warden Mark L. Weisenreder, Warden

Just as I worked inside and outside my home to provide a nurturing environment for my family, I pledge my support of the very special place where my spiritual needs are met.

The first time I attended this church, I felt so welcomed. The love and friendship from this parish family I will never forget. I made a promise not to get involved right away, to worship and listen to God's word. It only lasted a short time. We have many ministries: Christian formation, youth programs, and much more. This is my parish family; I will give of my time, talent and treasure. This parish has been there for me in happy and sad times. I will continue to give of time, talent, and treasures. This is the Lord's House; we are here to take care of it.

From the moment that my Family and I entered the Church of the Ascension we felt like we had arrived into a place we were meant to be a part of. From that first day we began to gladly show our support financially. When the opportunity to pledge presented itself there was no hesitation as we were willing to demonstrate our commitment to the Church, our new found Family.
I have a new appreciation for all that goes into making a Church run and all of the resources it provides to its members and community. I believe this parish has given me a feeling of warmth and of fellowship with the parishioners I have met since becoming a member. My financial support is the least I could do in giving something back, and hopefully will help to perpetuate its message with new parishioners entering the Church
