Help Needed with Emergency Maintenance Costs
Because of the recent storms the Church has experienced unexpected costs for tree removal ($6,700) and roof repair ($3,000). Only a small percentage of these costs are covered in our insurance. Some of you may have noticed that there is a "Maintenance" envelope in with your pledge envelopes. Many of you have had to absorb your own unexpected costs because of the storms but if any of you can help us out with a special contribution to help offset these expenses, it would be most appreciated. Thanking you in advance.

Outreach Project
This year, during our Lenten reflection, we have chosen to collect books for a school in need. Please check your shelves for picture books, encyclopedias, chapter books that would be appropriate for children in grades pre-K - 6. A collection box is located at the top of the stairs leading into the parish hall.

Please Sign Up for Coffee Hour
Thanks to each of you for serving at coffee hour this year!
Last week I put out a sign-up sheet in the parish hall for the upcoming summer weekends.  As you probably know, there is no formal  schedule for coffee hour during July and August; with vacations and  different schedules it makes more sense to have people sign up  according to their availability.  If you know that you'll be in town
and can help out, please sign up!
If I don't see you during the summer, enjoy the sun and fun until September brings us together again!
All the best,
Nicole

Emergency Response to Haiti Earthquake
Episcopal Relief & Development is actively gathering information on the earthquake in Haiti and how best to respond and assist the Diocese of Haiti.
January 13, 2010 - Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori has issued the following concerning the January 12 earthquake in Haiti:

The people of Haiti have suffered a devastating earthquake, and it is already clear that many have died and many more are injured. Even under “normal” circumstances, Haiti struggles to care for her 9 million people. The nation is the poorest in the western hemisphere, and this latest disaster will set back many recent efforts at development.

I urge your prayers for those who have died, been injured, and are searching for loved ones – and I urge your concrete and immediate prayers in the form of contributions to Episcopal Relief & Development, who are already working with the Diocese of Haiti to send aid where it is most needed.

The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori
Presiding Bishop
The Episcopal Church

Prayer Requests...Did You Know?
During the Prayers of the People in the liturgy we try to include all those for whom we desire corporate prayer. Did you know that there is a book for writing these requests in the Chapel of the Resurrection? If you have a request please write it there or call the parish office and let us know your concerns. Please let us know for how long you would like us to continue the prayers. Thank you and Blessings.

Much Needed Items for the Food Pantry
Canned vegetables, soup, canned fruit, 100% canned fruit juice (not fruit drink), pasta, rice, complete pancake mix, oatmeal, grits, dry cereal (non/low sugar), canned beans, canned tuna/salmon, canned stew/chili, nuts, dry milk: parmalat, shampoo, soap, toiletries. Thank you.

Long Island Council of Churches Urgent Appeal (LICC)
The following is an excerpt from a letter we have just received from the LICC:
We know you're aware of the severe impact the economic crisis has had on individuals and families, but what you may not realize is that nonprofit's, especially those that care for the poor, have also been deeply wounded financially by the economic crisis. Donations are way down but the number of people we care for has more than doubled in the past nine months. Although we have funds to buy food for our emergency pantries and help people with rent and mortgage, we need at least $50,000 before the end of this summer to pay our staff and pay for the facilities to keep our doors open so we can distribute this food and housing assistance to those who so desperately need it.
We urgently need your support. We cannot help the poor unless we pay our staffs who serve them....Without unrestricted funds to pay for the infra-structure that supports our ministry to the poor, there are no programs. Like "love and marriage" you can't have one without the other.
Please send your contributions to the LICC at 1644 Denton Green, /Hempstead, N. Y. 11550 and write "Sustain LICC Ministry" in the memo. If you wish to charge your gift to your VISA or Master Card, please call Yolanda Murray or Tim Eton at 516-565-0290 with the relevant information. Thank you for enabling us to continue serving Long Islanders in need.

Meet Father Matthew
The Rector has recently run into Fr. Matthew, Curate at Christ Church, Rye, New York on You Tube. If you have not already seen his work you should. Fr. Matthew produces every week a short YouTube video on some theological question or situation. They are brilliant. Great for teenagers and adults. This could be the face of the church in the next generation. So log onto YouTube and search for "Father Matthew presents!". You will not regret the time spent and I think you will have a great deal of fun with these presentations. And you might learn something about, the Bible, the Church, a social issue or a troubling theological question. Enjoy!

Parishioners in Hospital or Nursing Homes
Our Parish Health Ministry coordinator, Ruth Dubas, reminds us that members of our parish family are in nursing homes, the hospital or are homebound. A visit or a phone call from another member of the parish family would make their day more cheerful and not so lonely. Please take a few minutes to keep these parishioners connected and let them know we care. A list of these parishioners and suggested actions to cheer them will be on the information table in the parish hall.

Book of Remembrance
Claire Telecki will continue to handle the Book of Remembrance. Please leave your donations to the Book of Remembrance in the parish office mailbox in the Sacristy hallway. Include the name and date of death of the decedent, name and address of the donor, and the name and address of the family to be notified of your memorial. You may email Claire by clicking this link.
