Growing in faith involves ongoing education. A committed Christian must always be seeking to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the Christian tradition and the scriptures. Adult education opportunities are regularly offered at Ascension.
Between the 8:00am and 10:30am services we often have a book discussion group. Previous books have included: Merrily on High and Walsingham Way by Colin Stephenson, The Ecclesiastical History of the English People by Bede, Smoke on the Mountain by Joy Davidman and Pathways through the Bible by M.J. Cohen.
Using a new curriculum from The Church of England, Pilgrim explores scripture and issues of faith through small group reflection and discussion. The Pilgrim Course meets regularly on Thursdays at 6pm in the Rector’s office.
The Church of The Ascension sponsors regular pilgrimages to places of important spiritual significance. The act of making a pilgrimage can be one of the most powerful ways to make one’s faith come alive. Pilgrimages are educational, inspirational and fun.
